GOAT

Image
This week I watched the movie GOAT with some friends. We had our eyes on this for a bit as it seemed interesting for its animation and the animal world it cultivated. Seemed a little close to Zootopia, as that is the biggest animal-focused animated movie known, really. But the world it showed was very interesting and diverse in a way. The animals are divided into classes of "bigs" and "smalls". The big animals are often predators while the smalls are prey. However, it does not go deeper into the concept of carnivores and herbivores. From this standpoint, I recommend watching Beastars as it goes deeper into that concept, but for this movie, it is interesting as it is simplified for kids and families. It has a goat named Will who aspires to be a roarball star (like basketball) and be in the big leagues. When he gets his shot, he has to prove to the people that he is good and has talent. It shows the good that opening those opportunities to more animals does. One great...

Electric State

Yesterday I watched Electric State on Netflix (while multi-tasking and solving a puzzle). It is a movie about a futuristic situation where humans and robots have gone to war. It is set after this war where robots must follow specific rules and humans and robots are to remain separate. The main character Michelle lost her entire family, including two parents and a genius brother, in a car accident, or so she thought. A robot shows up claiming to be her brother, and they go on an adventure to try and find his body in real life. Although parts of the movie are a bit corny, it can easily be related to today’s world. Mr. Peanut is in charge of the robots who are fighting for “Robot Rights.” He says a line about their 'existence relying on a piece of paper' which I thought was interesting... This movie, in general, is against the use of technology to an extent where humans don’t interact in real life. It was a decent watch.
