I think it is only fitting, as my last blog post, to give an update from my first week introduction post. When I first introduced myself at the beginning of the semester, I shared that I was in the process of applying to Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in Technology Education or Art Education. My goal has always been to become a secondary school teacher and help students grow their creative and technical skills through digital arts and media. I am really happy to share an update on that journey because I have been accepted into the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in the MAT program with a concentration in Technology Education for secondary education. This feels like a huge step forward for me and it brings me much closer to my long term goal of becoming a teacher. I am excited and also a little nervous in a good way because I know this program will challenge me to grow, learn new teaching strategies, and better understand how to support different types of learners. I really want to use what I learn to bring digital media, design, and technology into the classroom in ways that feel meaningful and engaging for students. Taking a Women’s and Gender Studies course this semester has also taught me a lot about equality, stereotypes, and the patriarchy, and how these ideas show up in everyday life without people always realizing it. It has helped me think more deeply about the importance of creating fair, inclusive, and supportive spaces where all students feel seen and valued. I want to carry these lessons forward into my future classroom and build a teaching style that encourages students to think critically about media, identity, power, and representation. As this semester comes to an end, I also want to say congratulations to all graduating seniors. We have all worked hard to get to this point, and it is exciting to see everyone moving into the next chapter of their lives. I wish everyone the best in whatever comes next!!!
