U.S. motorcycles

If you are looking for a motorcycle manufactured in the U.S., your options are basically Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycles. I do not like Harley-Davidson because they are pretty much just the name and their community of Harley guys really has a bad reputation. The bikes are very overpriced due to having “Harley-Davidson” on them. The other option is Indian Motorcycles which raises some eyebrows if you see their logo and know that they are a US company. Supposedly the name was never meant to cause harm, it was supposed to be “patriotic and American”, but it is well known that you shouldn’t call Native Americans “Indians” and they continue to keep the name and logo. The names of the models are also things like "Scout", "Chief", and other tribal related words. The people who buy big touring cruisers like US bikes are known for typically do not care which is why I imagine they keep the name and logo. People like me who are in the market for a small cruiser, which Indian Motorcycles sells a model of, and do not want to ride a bike with a name and logo that could be offensive are turned away by this.

  1. Yikes! Thanks for bringing awareness to this topic. I have very limited knowledge surrounding motorcycle companies, and I had no idea about this particular brand. I hope that something is done to change the name/branding to be more appreciative and less appropriative. I wonder if there is a big push against changing the name or is this an issue that is not talked about?
