Trisha Paytas - Career Revival?
For this week’s blog topic, I will be discussing Trisha Paytas and her emergence back in the online sphere after facing some problematic moments. To preface, I have been a fan of Paytas since their trolling videos in the mid 2010’s, though at the time the topics of said videos were probably not in good taste. Recently, Paytas has starred in her own Broadway show, given birth to three beautiful children after years of infertility, featured as a guest on SNL, starred in the Broadway show Beetlejuice in NYC, starred on the hit podcast, gaining over 7 million views per episode, Frenemies, and has had multiple renowned celebrities on their popular podcast titled Just Trish. Before these achievements, Paytas was navigating through rough waters as they found themselves succumbing to drug usage, online hate trolling, obscene vulnerability, toxic friend groups, and other life-threatening/altering situations. These are a part of the many reasons people online believe that they do not deserve this comeback, and the concept of “cancellation” should be specifically put in place for her. This introduces a new talking point, cancel culture, and what is worth allowing someone to learn and grow from their mistakes. Paytas has risen from the ashes and broken from the shackles that once held her down, as she talks about how those past times are in no way related to who she is today. Making sure to take accountability, contribute to reparations for the communities affected, and moving forward with a new mindset in action. Ultimately, is this career revival worth supporting, or is there still some growth to be had? And what are some other thoughts and examples of cancel culture?

I think that Trisha completely deserves this revival. In the past, she was clearly at a very low point and needed obvious help. She has worked on herself over the past few years and has proven that she deserved a second chance at a happy and successful life.
