The TikTok Pregnant Lemon

 

Over the past couple weeks there has been a mystery pregnant lady hiding behind a lemon filter that has gained huge traction on TikTok. She has been alluding to the fact that she is pregnant and that she is also a major social media star and she has even been giving hints as to who she could be and how big of a following she might have. While this seems harmless, it has actually been causing a decent bit of uproar in a lot of TikTok communities because of how insensitive some people have become. People have been going into random TikTokers comment sections and accusing them of being the lemon and bombarding them with questions about their potential pregnancy. Some examples of people caught in the fire include Bailey from the 2010's YouTube lifestyle channel Brooklyn and Bailey, who even had to make a public post talking about how she has been trying for a baby for months but has been extremely unsuccessful. This is harmful to women like her who are having problems with fertility because it reminds them of their struggles and makes them feel lesser than. Another individual caught in the crossfire was Tabitha Swatosh, a popular content creator who was friends with former hype house creator Alex Warren. She was receiving thousands of comments asking if she was a Lemon and when she was going to make an announcement before ultimately having to make a video discussing her recent break up with her long-term boyfriend. While people may think comments and questions like these are harmless, they are harmful to individuals who are going through rough patches in life.

    I have briefly seen this, and at first I thought it was funny, but now that people are becoming way too invested into other people's lives, I find it kind of pathetic.

    I also saw this on tik tok once and a while and I saw the video of where she showed who she was and people in the comments were saying things like who are you and things like that and saying rude and disrespectful things to and about her

    Reading this is honestly kind of funny because how did we get here. This is kind of weird and I see that it's for laughs, but I do think that the comments need to stay on the page of the person posting them.

    I saw this a while ago but haven't seen any videos recently. I just find it a little weird how something started out as funny quickly became weird and invasive in a way. People sometimes tend to get way too interested in other peoples lives and take away the humor in videos because of that. I think this is one of those examples where it has gone too far.

A Heated Rivalry or Wicked Misogyny?

 As someone who may hold bias to the extent that I refuse to watch Heated Rivalry, I think it's important to state that I've seen a couple of episodes, and the show just isn't for me. I've also watched both the Wicked movies starring Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande. Now you are probably wondering what these two media films have in common. Well, nothing to be exact, and I think that's the preface we must state first.  This isn't about the series/movies, it's about the co-stars, but first, here's a little context you may need to understand where I am coming from. Arianna Grande plays in the musical adaptation of Wicked and Wicked for Good, directed by Jon M. Chu. Intro/Post-Grad Plans!

Hi everyone, My name is Emily Webb, and I’m from Frederick, Maryland. I am a senior majoring in Digital Culture & Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Social Media. I am currently finishing up my applications for Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in Technology Education or Art Education. My goal is to become a secondary teacher for digital arts courses. I am excited about combining my love for digital media with teaching and helping students develop both creative and technical skills. Outside of school, I enjoy crafting with my Cricut.
