The Ozoro Rape Festival

 A festival in Ozoro, Nigeria, that took place in March 2026 is being called a 'rape festival'. The event was 'hijacked' by men who chased, harassed, stripped, and sexually assaulted women. Over 15 men were arrested for the assaults. No woman has come forward to press charges for the assaults. Some report that the raping of women during the festival has been allowed to happen for years, with the police looking the other way and not stopping the 'highjackers'.

These assaults are similar to what we viewed in the screening of the Dreamworlds documentary.

    I don’t understand how people could ever do this to each other, also how are people just letting this happen and not trying to stand up against it.

    A Tik Tok recently came up on my FYP of a Nigerian women spreading the word about this festival. The fear and sadness in her message broke my heart, but it's horrible how normalized it has become. The woman said she was fearful for young college students who aren't from the area and may not know about the festival traditions. I hope that something can be done moving forward.

    wow this is insane to hear about especially since I haven't before. I'm shocked more people aren't discussing this or if they are its shocking this isn't more known on the social apps like personally I haven't seen this on my own TikTok.

    I have not heard of this and am extremely disgusted. To hear this is shocking, especially because of how many it was. This was clearly pre-planned and they went into the event with every single intention of what they did. Absolutely disgusting.

A Heated Rivalry or Wicked Misogyny?

 As someone who may hold bias to the extent that I refuse to watch Heated Rivalry, I think it's important to state that I've seen a couple of episodes, and the show just isn't for me. I've also watched both the Wicked movies starring Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande. Now you are probably wondering what these two media films have in common. Well, nothing to be exact, and I think that's the preface we must state first.  This isn't about the series/movies, it's about the co-stars, but first, here's a little context you may need to understand where I am coming from. Hi everyone, My name is Emily Webb, and I’m from Frederick, Maryland. I am a senior majoring in Digital Culture & Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Social Media. I am currently finishing up my applications for Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in Technology Education or Art Education. My goal is to become a secondary teacher for digital arts courses.
