Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion

 For this week‘s blog post I wanted to talk about something that I have been seeing all over my TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook on every shade room there is imaginable. Klay Thompson has been accused of cheating on Megan Thee Stallion. So far there is no confirmed proof of them even being in an exclusive relationship. But when celebrities get together, people take it more seriously, so even hanging out can cause the media to think they’re together. One thing I do hate about the media is that all these celebrities made it so that people can’t go out with their friends without it seeming like somebody has to be in a relationship with another person in their friend group. In pop culture, when people get involved with celebrity drama, they tend to treat celebrities like the character they’re used to playing in a show, expecting all the drama and the plot twist that the show has even though this is still their real life. Today alone I saw at least 10 posts about “Klay fumbling the bag." If he did cheat on Megan, I do 100% agree that he fumbled, but if they weren’t in an exclusive relationship and these are just assumptions from posts, then it could really affect them and what they have going on personally, not just from the fans' views.

    I agree with you. The media and social media make a big deal out of things without real proof. People assume celebrities are dating just for hanging out. That can hurt them. Fans forget they are real people, not characters. We should not judge situations when we do not know the truth.

    Love this take! I think many fans feel entitled to these celebrities especially within their relationships and social circles. I think about some cases when some actors are in a movie together whether it be a rom-com or a movie/tv show that focuses on a romance narrative how the actors will begin promoting and the fanbase will start shipping these actors together or creating false narratives of them being together, soon invading on their personal lives such as policing who they hang out with, or if they date outside this person they’re promoting a movie with. That’s why I think Tom and Zendaya are refreshing to see because to see the two of them with high levels of fame not feel the need to spread the news to everyone, but they’re able to live in their own bubble of privacy. They are not entitled to tell the public anything they don’t want, but they’re still able to show support.

A Heated Rivalry or Wicked Misogyny?

 As someone who may hold bias to the extent that I refuse to watch Heated Rivalry, I think it's important to state that I've seen a couple of episodes, and the show just isn't for me. I've also watched both the Wicked movies starring Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande. Now you are probably wondering what these two media films have in common. Well, nothing to be exact, and I think that's the preface we must state first.  This isn't about the series/movies, it's about the co-stars, but first, here's a little context you may need to understand where I am coming from. Intro/Post-Grad Plans!

Hi everyone, My name is Emily Webb, and I’m from Frederick, Maryland. I am a senior majoring in Digital Culture & Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Social Media. I am currently finishing up my applications for Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in Technology Education or Art Education. My goal is to become a secondary teacher for digital arts courses. I am excited about combining my love for digital media with teaching and helping students develop both creative and technical skills. Outside of school, I enjoy crafting with my Cricut.
