Justin Bieber's Coachella Performance

 A few days ago, Justin Bieber performed at Coachella. His performance is taking over social media because of how unique it was. He did not have any backup dancers, a crazy set, no costumes, it was simply just him on stage. He had his computer out and was sharing funny and old videos but the main focus of his performance was him playing his old music/singing videos and doing a live duet with them. This performance has been special to so many people because this performance is bringing them back to their childhoods and has been a symbol that everyone is growing up. 

I think this performance truly shows how much impact celebrities have on so many people. Justin Bieber for instance, is a celebrity that so many people listened to as a child and idolized. I personally loved his performance, but some people were upset because they thought his performance was too boring and not worthy enough for Coachella.

    My opinion differs from many others on this, but I did truly enjoy his performance, did I think it was a $10 million dollar worthy performance? absolutely not. It was enjoyable and nostalgic and had that feeling of personability, but it wasn't anything past the bare minimum. If we really break it down compared to the other headliners he really did nothing. Karol G and Sabrina Carpenter blew Coachella out of the water and are both still receiving backlash and hate despite the fact that they gave their all. Not to mention the pay difference between the headliners for him to have very little production while both of the females gave their all, it really shows how are standards are entirely different for men and women. I don't think any of the performers should be receiving hate, but I do think we shouldn't be praising the bare minimum while tearing down productions that took a tremendous amount of time, effort, and money.

    I can’t believe Bieber’s concert was worth around $10 million. I haven’t known about Coachella and I’m ashamed to say so. However, unless I bought to stay in less wealthier side then I probably wouldn’t be able to afford it. Another influencer I saw spent 200,000 just to stay there in a penthouse.. The wealth gap here is insane and it is clear indicator or wage gaps across the world.

A Heated Rivalry or Wicked Misogyny?

 As someone who may hold bias to the extent that I refuse to watch Heated Rivalry, I think it's important to state that I've seen a couple of episodes, and the show just isn't for me. I've also watched both the Wicked movies starring Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande. Now you are probably wondering what these two media films have in common. Well, nothing to be exact, and I think that's the preface we must state first.  This isn't about the series/movies, it's about the co-stars, but first, here's a little context you may need to understand where I am coming from. Hi everyone, My name is Emily Webb, and I’m from Frederick, Maryland. I am a senior majoring in Digital Culture & Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Social Media. I am currently finishing up my applications for Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in Technology Education or Art Education. My goal is to become a secondary teacher for digital arts courses. I am excited about combining my love for digital media with teaching and helping students develop both creative and technical skills. Outside of school, I enjoy crafting with my Cricut.
