How reading can affect your mental health positivley
I have recently been obsessed with substack because of tiktok (which I know isn't the healthiest platform), and it has really changed my perspective of reading. I have always loved to read but I think I have been so caught up in life I have lost the ability to want to find time to do it. With this being said, I have seen so many interesting substack titles that I just decided to download it and see what was going on. I won't lie I downloaded it and then deleted it because I wasn't using it, but I came across this tiktok naming someone's favorite substack articles and downloaded it again when I had a free minute. Now, I'm sure some people will say that it isn't actual reading, but I would happily disagree. Its real people sharing real stories or poems about their lives and things that have affected them and just their opinions on life, love, hobbies, etc. This is honestly just a promo for substack because I love it lol.
I literally just had this conversation with my roommate because she deleted TikTok and started reading more. I was saying that was something I need to do because I feel like I spend too much time on my phone and I keep saying I want to read more but never do. I feel as though it's harder for me to regulate my social media because I'm in a long distance relationship and communicate with my girlfriend over the phone everyday. I am starting to really hate my phone and resent it a lot so I think deleting social media, especially TikTok will help with that.
