Avengers Doomsday

 

The upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday will help continue the massive influence of superhero movies on pop culture. Marvel films have traditionally been centered around male heroes, but recently they have been shifting toward more female representation. Raising questions about whether female characters are given equal depth and leadership roles. Superhero films often reflect ideas of masculinity, strength, power, and emotional restraint. These newer characters challenge these by showing vulnerability and emotional complexity. Female superheroes are often still judged more on appearance and likability rather than male counterparts. This film can be used to analyze how gender roles are evolving within blockbuster media. Marvel’s global audience means these portrayals will help shape societal expectations of gender. This movie will offer a chance to see whether Marvel continues progressing or falls back into traditional gender norms.

A Heated Rivalry or Wicked Misogyny?

 As someone who may hold bias to the extent that I refuse to watch Heated Rivalry, I think it's important to state that I've seen a couple of episodes, and the show just isn't for me. I've also watched both the Wicked movies starring Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande. Now you are probably wondering what these two media films have in common. Well, nothing to be exact, and I think that's the preface we must state first.  This isn't about the series/movies, it's about the co-stars, but first, here's a little context you may need to understand where I am coming from. Arianna Grande plays in the musical adaptation of Wicked and Wicked for Good, directed by Jon M. Chu. She takes on the role of playing Galina (Galinda the Good), she is a very privileged and self-absorbed young woman who attends Shiz University and ends up facing an internal battle of being for the people or wanting her personal desire to keep her bond with Elphaba. Intro/Post-Grad Plans!

Hi everyone, My name is Emily Webb, and I’m from Frederick, Maryland. I am a senior majoring in Digital Culture & Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Social Media. I am currently finishing up my applications for Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in Technology Education or Art Education. My goal is to become a secondary teacher for digital arts courses. I am excited about combining my love for digital media with teaching and helping students develop both creative and technical skills. Outside of school, I enjoy crafting with my Cricut.
