The Rookie (2/2 Missing Blogs)
For this week's post I wanted to talk about a show I have recently started watching. The Rookie, on Hulu. I really like the show because while I love watching True Crime and Law and Order and things like that the show also touches base on a lot of the cultural debates that we have like sexism and how race can affect policing or traffic stops or how officers are treated in the community based on who they are as a person it also will show us the different biases different people may have because of how they were brought up. Another reason I have chosen this show is because I found that while the cast is very diverse it also highlights the different cultures and perspectives on different things they might have, through their cultures. There are African American police officers on the squad white police officers, Hispanic police and even an Asian woman. There's also in the beginning seasons there is a black homosexual man on the squad. Another popular debate is that some of the people are sexists because the women have to work a lot harder to prove themselves than the men do because of the show, the men are supposed to do better. There's also a lot of pop culture incorporated into this show because the officers have to worry about being filmed or how the public could react to them which can give off a different goal than what they are actually attempting to do. For example, one of the police officers was wrongfully accused of murdering his best friend, before he became a cop. After this, his mother wanted a show made about the things he had to go through while being wrongfully accused without his knowledge and him, and his training officer were riding around making normal stops,
I'm not sure if I heard of this show, but since it's like Law and Order I will definitely try to watch it an hopefully like it.
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriend and I have been obsessed with The Rookie recently! We're halfway through season 5 and it's been really good so far. One of my favorite things about the show is how the two top deceives are both women of different minorities. Both of these women add so much to the show and are some of my favorite characters.
