The Pitt

Over the break my mom and I began binge-watching The Pitt. This show, which is currently in the middle of its second season releases every Thursday on HBOmax. It is at its heart a medical drama that takes place during the entirety of a 15-hour hospital shift, documenting what it's like to work in an overcrowded ER in Pittsburgh where anything can go wrong at any second. Each episode is a different hour of the workday and allows the viewer to really Invision the fast-paced and intense nature of the emergency room. This show is regarded as one of the most accurate depictions of the medical field in modern television, and while it still has many inaccuracies, it is clear that they are at least trying to be accurate. They are also trying to include modern issues, even including things like the Medicaid crisis, the inaccessibility of healthcare, ICE, abusive storylines, mistreatment of healthcare workers, generative AI in healthcare and complex storylines when it comes to the emergency room. While I do think this show has its fair share of medical inaccuracies, as most medical dramas do, I think it's worth watching for the complex storylines and phenomenal acting by the entire ensemble.

  2. Love this show to my core. Santos, Ellis, Abbot, and Samira are some of my favorite characters. The show also talks about the biases and medical racism in the medical industry, and also biases doctors have with certain patients based on their weight, gender, race, etc. Love this show to my core.
