Mormon Wives Video Resurface

A day or two ago a video was resurfaced from couple years ago of a women on "The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives" named Taylor Frankie Paul, who was also chosen for The Bacholrette. The video displayed a chaotic video of her arguing, wrestling/pulling of hair, and chairs thrown at her ex husband. Her season was already filmed and was 3 days away from its premiere this month. Following the drop of the video's viewership, sponsors who funded the ABC pulled out in which led to ABC cancelling it in entirety. The domestic violence video also showed how their baby was present in the living room and was hit in result of the conflict. This made the backlash much worse, and even though this story may have already been known to the public, the video was never posted until this point. I'd infer that the husband was jealous and didn't want to see his ex-wife's love story with another man or men, so he decided to make it all go away. The video shows how media can, and content can override even the most prominent tv platforms. This situation contradicts the main stereotypes involving men and domestic violence. There are obviously more accounts of male domestic violence, which has been known and persistent for hundreds of years. However, it provides a new perspective when seeing a woman conducting the violence. Their relationship, among many others on the show are very toxic, so although Taylor took accountability for her actions, Dakota Mortesen definitely has a part in all of this. We only saw what he recorded for that sliver of time, and how he acted in the video, even though he was the one recording. People act differently on and off camera.

  1. I agree, I've been seeing discourse on this, and people are in an uproar,r but more specifically, ly I saw a video stating that if werewas a man, he would've never been able to get put on TV. That thought alone is truly not true. Men have done way more heinous things and are still in power. For instance, look at who our president is! Regardless of saying there are always two sides to a story, but alsothe fact that the only victim is the child who got hurt in the crossfire. I definitely believe that man recorded her for a reason, and while I'm not saying I don't believe him, I am curious to know all the details. Regardless, another woman has to face backlash over something a man wouldn't even be held accountable for. Definitely shows the way the patriarchy works.
