March Madness Inequality

Because of the time of the year I wanted to shed light on the differences in the Men's and Women's March Madness tournament. While these photos aren't from the current tournament it is from just 5 years ago and it is crazy to believe that the NCAA just 5 years ago thought that these differences were acceptable. These photos show the differences in the food that the players were served, the swag bags that they were given when they arrived at their hotel rooms, and their weight rooms at their hotels.

    I can only hope to assume that the NCAA improved equality of luxuries for women players. As there has been an increase in sponsorship and media coverage for women. However, this is a great observation and criteria to relate to our one chapter that talked about women and sports. This is a prime example of how women weren't as respected and weren't given the same luxuries and neccesities as men in the NCAA or NBA do.

A Heated Rivalry or Wicked Misogyny?

 As someone who may hold bias to the extent that I refuse to watch Heated Rivalry, I think it's important to state that I've seen a couple of episodes, and the show just isn't for me. I've also watched both the Wicked movies starring Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande. Now you are probably wondering what these two media films have in common. Well, nothing to be exact, and I think that's the preface we must state first.  This isn't about the series/movies, it's about the co-stars, but first, here's a little context you may need to understand where I am coming from. Arianna Grande plays in the musical adaptation of Wicked and Wicked for Good, directed by Jon M. Chu. Intro/Post-Grad Plans!

Hi everyone, My name is Emily Webb, and I’m from Frederick, Maryland. I am a senior majoring in Digital Culture & Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Social Media. I am currently finishing up my applications for Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in Technology Education or Art Education. My goal is to become a secondary teacher for digital arts courses. I am excited about combining my love for digital media with teaching and helping students develop both creative and technical skills. Outside of school, I enjoy crafting with my Cricut.
