Portal of disabilities in media needs to change

 In many movies and shows the representation of disabilities have grown. But the actors who are portraying these characters with disabilities are most likely able bodied. In the casting industry we need to move away from able-bodies actors playing disabled roles towards real representation through actors with disabilities. The second step is to integrate these actors into "normal" storylines instead of using them as "inspiration porn". Challenging the ideas that people with disabilities only role is to inspire abled body people or teach them a lesson is stripping their identity and self being away. By adding in topics of ableism and societal barriers depict a more accrete representation of people with disabilities life. Also, an important part is to bring intersectionality into thought as well. Minorities are heavily underrepresented in media, exploring disability along with ethnicity, gender, and sexuality, brings a more realistic aspect of society into media.
