Black Phone 1 and 2
Okay so this week I wanted to talk about the movies called black phone mainly because I am actively watching the second one for the first time right now. I think that there are a lot of underlying themes in this movie particularly that I have been dissecting on reddit lol. One that I wanted to talk about was the reference to people fighting their own demons and issues and how sometimes those issues come to light and tragically affect others in a harmful way, but sometimes in a helpful one. I think the elaboration on the grabbers background tells us a lot about how his past has led him to do the terrible things he does today, even after passing away. But Gwen and Finneys arc, of losing their mom, and not really wanting to tap into their psychic powers even though they eventually give in, is an important one. It shows how everyone has some sort of trauma, and we get to decide how it affect our lives, whether we try to let it go or use it for the better, or we let it take us over.
I really enjoyed these movies since I am a huge horror movie fan. I think the first one is really showing that young boys go through trauma as much as anyone else. I think the second one he is going through a lot of trauma due to his kidnapping and living through it as well since the others didn't have the same fate.
