Agent Carter (Blog 3)

Agent Carter (2015) is a series about Agent Peggy Carter that is set right after the first Captain America movie and World War II. She is made to do boring office work even though she has experience in the field and wants to be in the field. She faces an extreme amount of sexism and a complete lack of respect. Since her male counterparts fail to get anywhere with emerging threats, she secretly goes out and solves crimes herself, with some help from Edwin Jarvis. Since they don't expect a woman to be able to do anything outside of secretary work, she goes relatively unnoticed. Edwin Jarvis is one of, if not my all time, favorite characters in Marvel. He is a kind and caring man who comes to be a dear friend of Agent Carter. He knows how powerful and smart she is and does not treat her differently for being a woman. This might be my favorite series in the MCU. Being set in the past and having a strong female lead are some of my go to watches, and I would highly recommend it.

    I've heard of this! I haven't seen much from the show but I know that it seems pretty good from what I have heard. I liked the fact that the show focused on Peggy and the past. Her being able to step outside of gender norms for her time to do good was very interesting as reality is very different from fantasy. She is an incredible character that I am glad got her right attention.

    I’ve yet to watch this show personally, but I do really enjoy marvel and the shows they put. I have always liked Agent Carter as a character though as she really respects Cap and she is pretty badass all around and respected by other characters, as her character like black widow’s doesn’t really take shit from anyone.

A Heated Rivalry or Wicked Misogyny?

 As someone who may hold bias to the extent that I refuse to watch Heated Rivalry, I think it's important to state that I've seen a couple of episodes, and the show just isn't for me. I've also watched both the Wicked movies starring Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande. Now you are probably wondering what these two media films have in common. Well, nothing to be exact, and I think that's the preface we must state first.  This isn't about the series/movies, it's about the co-stars, but first, here's a little context you may need to understand where I am coming from. Arianna Grande plays in the musical adaptation of Wicked and Wicked for Good, directed by Jon M. Chu. Intro/Post-Grad Plans!

Hi everyone, My name is Emily Webb, and I’m from Frederick, Maryland. I am a senior majoring in Digital Culture & Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Social Media. I am currently finishing up my applications for Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in Technology Education or Art Education. My goal is to become a secondary teacher for digital arts courses. I am excited about combining my love for digital media with teaching and helping students develop both creative and technical skills. Outside of school, I enjoy crafting with my Cricut.
