Wicked Press Tour Is Getting "Heated"

Recently, the show Heated Rivalry has gained tons of attention for its rule breaking storytelling and 'heated' scenes between actors Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie. Both performers have experience a catapult into fame as a result of the shows success. Their press tour has been broadcasted across every platform you could think of, and there's no denying the amount of attention and buzz they are creating. An article I found by poprant analyzes the differences in how audiences have responded to the relationship and media display between Hudson and Connor to that of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo from Wicked. The article discusses concerns around queerbaiting and double standards when it comes to the behaviors seen between the Heated Rivalry co-stars, focusing in on how the key difference is simply gender. Specifically, Shivani Negi, the writer of the article, compares how the closeness displayed between Ariana and Cynthia has been labeled as 'weird' or 'creepy', yet Hudson and Connor have gained tons of praise for their tight knit bond.

    Yeah this is completely wrong, how the guys did it and its viewed as a tight bond while when the girls did it, it was viewed as weird and creepy

A Heated Rivalry or Wicked Misogyny?

 As someone who may hold bias to the extent that I refuse to watch Heated Rivalry, I think it's important to state that I've seen a couple of episodes, and the show just isn't for me. I've also watched both the Wicked movies starring Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande. Now you are probably wondering what these two media films have in common. Well, nothing to be exact, and I think that's the preface we must state first.  This isn't about the series/movies, it's about the co-stars, but first, here's a little context you may need to understand where I am coming from. Arianna Grande plays in the musical adaptation of Wicked and Wicked for Good, directed by Jon M. Chu. Hi everyone, My name is Emily Webb, and I’m from Frederick, Maryland. I am a senior majoring in Digital Culture & Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Social Media. I am currently finishing up my applications for Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in Technology Education or Art Education. My goal is to become a secondary teacher for digital arts courses.
