People We Meet On Vacation
People We Meet on Vacation was already a favorite for a lot of readers and my self because of its slow-burn romance and emotional depth, so the movie had big shoes to fill. While the film is fun and easy to watch, it’s definitely pretty different from the book. In the novel, we get so much insight into Poppy and Alex’s thoughts, which makes their relationship feel deeper and more meaningful. The movie doesn’t have that same inner dialogue, so some emotional moments feel rushed or less intense. The timeline is also more condensed, which takes away from the slow build that made the book so special. That said, the movie does a great job bringing the travel scenes to life and making each destination feel exciting and romantic. Overall, the movie is enjoyable, but the book still wins when it comes to emotional connection and storytelling. For fans of the novel, the differences make it clear why the book continues to resonate more strongly than the film.
I've never heard of this book or movie before! I will definitely look into it, sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI watched this movie when it came out and really enjoyed it! I hadn't read the book, but I definitely understand the frustration of an adaptation not doing a novel justice, it can be very disappointing to see.
