I Love LA!!!

 A recent obsession of mine has been "I Love LA" on HBO Max! Like I said on the first day of class, I'm obsessed with everything Rachel Sennott does and so when she announced that she was going to be the show runner of an untitled project on HBO Max I was really excited. I've been anticipating it for a while and I wasn't disappointed. The show pulls out great references to Internet pop culture and popular memes in every episode which made it so fun to watch. The dialogue and topics of conversation are very current which makes it highly relatable. 


It's worth mentioning that there has been internet discourse surrounding this show for several reasons, one of them being a slight feud between Francois Arnaud (a star of 'Heated Rivalry') and Jordan Firstman (a star of 'I Love LA'), who are both proud members of the LGBTQ+ community. The beef started when Firstman posted on his Instagram story calling the show's representation of gay men "unrealistic" among other things. He experienced backlash online for this comment from Arnaud and the fans of 'Heated Rivalry.' Though the feud was short lived, many people online said they wouldn't watch the show because of Firstman's statement.

    Hello! Thank you so much for sharing. I have yet to see this show but I am so in-tune with LA culture and life I might as well. This post only made me want to start watching it more and may do it while I am sitting at work bored.

    I LOVE THIS SHOW. I literally couldn't decide if I wanted to use I heart LA or Heated Rivalry as my current obsession its so good omg. With that being said, I haven't even seen the discourse between the two shows and am glad you shared that cause I definitely have to look into that now.

A Heated Rivalry or Wicked Misogyny?

 As someone who may hold bias to the extent that I refuse to watch Heated Rivalry, I think it's important to state that I've seen a couple of episodes, and the show just isn't for me. I've also watched both the Wicked movies starring Cynthia Erivo and Arianna Grande. Now you are probably wondering what these two media films have in common. Well, nothing to be exact, and I think that's the preface we must state first.  This isn't about the series/movies, it's about the co-stars, but first, here's a little context you may need to understand where I am coming from. Arianna Grande plays in the musical adaptation of Wicked and Wicked for Good, directed by Jon M. Chu. Intro/Post-Grad Plans!

Hi everyone, My name is Emily Webb, and I’m from Frederick, Maryland. I am a senior majoring in Digital Culture & Design with a double minor in Graphic Design and Social Media. I am currently finishing up my applications for Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) programs in Technology Education or Art Education. My goal is to become a secondary teacher for digital arts courses. I am excited about combining my love for digital media with teaching and helping students develop both creative and technical skills. Outside of school, I enjoy crafting with my Cricut.
