Glee

One of my favorite shows to rewatch is Glee. I used to be in high school choir and everyone in the school would think that the choir was a cult kind of like how no one liked the glee club. I do like the idea of a teacher who has a musical background to take on such a task as to create a glee club and encourage students of all different backgrounds in the school to come together to create great music. Glee is very closely tied to pop culture because it centers on contemporary pop music throughout the decades, Broadway music, and classics. the show reintroduces the music to the audiences through covers that often reflected on current trends. A lot of the music performed on Glee re-entered music charts. beyond their music, Glee engages directly with cultural convos of its time. It addresses topics such as LGBTQ+, identity, body image, race, disability, mental health, and social media.

  1. I forgot I binged this heavily last semester, and it reminded me of middle school and high and my own experience in choir. The show does really well with making experiences feel relatable and even validating, especially the idea that music creates community as well as challenges such topics as you've already conveyed. I still listen to some of their tracks on shuffle. You did well at concisely explaining the show because I feel it can be overlooked but it has a lot of depth.

  2. My friends and I back at home LOVE glee we watch it almost every time I come home from college, even during the breaks when I'm home, we watch it. We love how every episode is different, and some are even very relatable to some of us, and we loved the different dynamics happening in the show. We also listen to some of the songs because we lowkey think some of the glee version songs are better than the actual version of it.
