All the Bright Places
This is one of my comfort movies. Everything about it is just so perfect and I cry to it every time. The way Finch helped Violet out of her dark spot while he was going through it himself to the point where he wasn't going to graduate and lost himself, taking life as a joke. Finch was such in a dark spot that by the time Violet finally started to catch feelings and notice how he gets and tries to figure him out, but it was just too late. I wish we'd know more about Finch in the movie, but others said that the book goes in depth about Finch and his mental health and what he went through. I love how genuine the movie was although it was a little cringe, but the bond they had in the movie starting off as friends with healing and enjoying the small things in life when taking on that journey for their class project. Their friendship and leading on just was them helping each other cope with pain, loss and the biggest was to find a real meaning in life. This movie perfectly shows how mental health works and how serious it is.

ReplyDeleteHey Candence! Believe it or not, one of my friends really loves this movie, so I decided to give it a watch just to understand why it was one of her favorites. I will say the film is good and definitely interesting. When I finished the movie, we had a debrief on it, and we saw it from two different perspectives. Personally, my initial thought was that everyone in this movie was terrible to each other, and it really shows the lack of personal bond that everyone has with each other. Violet was drowning, and Finch saved her, but he knew he wasn't going to get the help he needed so why choose to burden her with his loss as well? Even her friend, who had an eating disorder didn't understand her hanging out with Finch because she was too focused on a guy Finch didn't like because he constantly called him weird. She didn't see that not only was her friend avoiding the world, but Violet didn't notice her other friend's eating disorder and her suicidal thoughts either. I think we could gather that Finch was born in a broken home, his father was abusive to not only his mom but him, and left when he was young, which created a problem and his mom never seemed to be present. This could also play a part in why Finch had a lot of silent battles. Overall, I'm glad to finally say I am grateful for the friend who introduced me to this movie, and it definitely is an interesting watch; it really shows the impact of mental health from various aspects.
ReplyDeleteHello! I just rewatched this movie over winter break. I often watch movies about mental health related issues, so when I got the free time, I knew I had to watch this one.
